put some cars together on a track and they race

yep hopefully it goes on. it will be nice to see some more organized motor events this summer. more knowledge and support can make it happen

the drag drift and car show would be what a lot of people in to motorsports would love to see more offen

I have no objection to the proposal to promote a possible motorsports event.

...but why would the 'promoters' want to associate their event with a divisive and racist connotation in their label for their event?

Doesn't seem to be the best method or tactic to gain support....

In any case, there's supposed to be some meeting on the 20th, you'll have to let us know if this ever gets past the jot it on a bar napkin dreaming stage.

Maybe someone at the meeting will speak to the inappropriateness of the proposed title.....

I don't see the sport needing the controversy.....

yeah a lot more people are starting to get involved with it and the word is getting out. there seems to be a pretty strong support for this to happen

i just wish i was healthy enough to still race my car. i had to sell my drift car last summer i only got to bring it out to a race track one, one lap around the course was too much for me.

it was still fun to watch people race even though i couldn't race with them

The name "Race Wars" comes from a movie where they had a drag/car event. That is what it is intended to promote.

User2, you are getting your quotes from people off of a public forum and not people that are putting this on.

Seems User2 may wish to review the definition of race. Please see the link below.

Seems most the definitons and especially the main ones refer to racing, as in running, rivers, or cars, not Racial issues.

race - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

and for fun here is the definition of war.

User2, sometimes you just crack me up.

But I'm terrified at the thought that you don't think you're being funny.

Can anybody tell me why smilies don't post right in my posts? Or is it just me who can't see them?

Whether it be the 'good old boy' Confederate flag NASCAR connotations, or the much more blatant pun offered to promote this event,

I am not the only person in the state of NC to feel this way, actually there are quite a few of us. I have been to a few races,1. They are unbelieve-ably loud, can not speak to the person next to you, a lot worse than rock concerts. 2. I personally find them inane, 3. I do not understand watching x numbers of grown men driving in a counterclockwise circuit for hours on end. 4. The only hazards are the other drivers. I do however follow a form of racing, particularly the Iditarod, essentially a race from New York to Houston without roads, bridges, pavement (well, except for the ceremonial start in Anchorage), Other forms of hazards, like thin sea ice, Moose, (the white bears do not hibernate) cousins of Romeo, and the occasional Nascar wannabe on a snow machine wipeing out dogs. Not much in the way of road maps either, also all the dogs on one sled, added together, may equal one horsepower, not sure about that one. Yeah, auto racing in the south, all the racists and rednecks lumped in one very loud place, I think I'll pass.
