Default Planning April trip to find cabin to rent long-term - need leads

I’ve been planning a move to Alaska for some time, and now I’m ready to take action. I’m flying into Anchorage on April 5 to rent a car and take a week to find a rental cabin somewhere between Houston and Healy, or in/near Talkeetna.

I’m looking for something small (200-500 sq. ft.), inexpensive, private, and with road access. Water preferred, dry okay. I will be retiring in June and actually moving in July, but I’m prepared to pay for time starting earlier if that’s what I need to do to secure a place. I want to live in the cabin for a full year or longer and to sign a lease to that effect. I have one dog that I am bringing, and two cats that I may or may not bring. I have excellent credit.

I’ve made want-to-rent flyers for post offices, placed an ad in the Talkeetna paper, and will place an ad in the Frontiersman, and now I’m asking you guys – if any of you know of such a cabin to rent in the area I’m looking in, please let me know! You can write to me at forgetwho@yahoo.com (put the word “cabin” somewhere in the subject line so I know not to delete it). Thanks!
