Yep...true true. I've done the jumps from JNU in LAB flying service's Archer and done the floats thing (Cessna 180 on floats and DHC-2 Beavers) in some pretty narley weather. Flew out of Skagway on the nine seater with Wings of Alaska and it ate up that winter turbulance and my stomach thanked me later!

The Caravan is one rock solid aircraft. But according to friends who fly freight down south in it, the aircraft is underpowered.

I know both Airnet and Ameriflight both use them. I am sure others do too.

We call Alaska Central Express, "Alcohol Central Express" here in Bethel. You can't buy booze here but you can order it. ACE flies it here, by the pallet load.

On the street it is R&R, 50 bucks for a "jug."

Caravans have a Pratt & Whitney PT6-675HP, they're thinking about putting in a Garret 1000HP, in test phase now. They're a pretty good plane, carry 9 passengers or 2500 pounds of mail.
