So your saying Alaska will drain you of your money? Your post is out there man. It makes no sense what so ever. And lose the attitude. We have no time for outsiders with attitudes. If you feel Alaska drains you of your money...whatn the hell you building a boat to move here for? And then complain about it? Do us a favor. Stay where you are.

Sage,

I also do not understand what you are saying. I have been here all of my life and have tried to leave time and time again however something keeps standing in my way. FATE?????? I do love Alaska and also have. yes the winters tend to get long and things have changed. hell, every place has crime and all the bad things also. I agree with Rance and Mal fisk that your post does not make any sense. Please let us know what you are saying. I think we would all like to know. We are not picking on you at all. I take it that you are in Hawaii? I personally have never been there and would like to see it; however, based on what I have heard, it is not the paradise that you hear about. I would not diss the state you live in, please do not discourage people from at least seeing this state. yes you grew up here in coldfoot a long time ago. So? Anchorage has changed, I have not decided for the better or worse, personally I would live somewhere else in AK if I had my choice, but at this point in time, I do not. My son loves it here and I imagine despite the fact that it expensive I will most likely always be here. Remember fate? Anyway, please just let us all know what you are trying to say. Is Alaska a bad place??? I do not agree. If it is so bad, why are you coming back? hawaii too expensive???? Anyway I will get off my highhorse. Sorry, but I just had to say something, especially after your last post. It was like you were pouting.

Did I miss something? Was it something I said? What did I say to cause a reaction like that? I only asked for a little clarification, and admitted to a possible difference of opinion. I said that this is an open forum and that I may have disagreed. I asked for nothing more, and certainly didn't mean to insult or demean your point of view. If I have somehow done so, my sincere and abject apologies.

I will say that a forum is, by definition, a discussion, and that in discussions, points of view may and ususally, do, differ. This is not a bad thing. If we all agreed on every point, there would be no need for a forum. I'd already know what everyone thought, and how they felt. If we all were raised in the same manner, and in the same places, we wouldn't be able to learn from one another. We'd all know what everyone knew. Because we're all different, we grow and learn as we savor the flavors of each and every opinion as presented by our fellow correspondents. I have disagreed with others in this forum, but have always acknowledged that my opinion is just that - my opinion, not facts. For facts, I refer to books. Less interesting than people - people are random little bundles of opinions and facts. They change faster than the weather and are twice as inpredictable. People are infinitely amazing, as I am sure you are, Salvor. If you close up because of a simple difference of opinions, you are missing out on a wonderful chance at conversation. Please convince me with the passion of argument, backed up by your experience. I may not ever agree, but I am sure I would enjoy the discussion.

I'm just wondering what's up with reviving a thread that died 6 weeks ago with a pot-stirring statement like that....
Someone not getting enough attention lately????

Possibly trolling, and I (naturally) rose to the bait.

Some people are deep and misunderstood, and some people are just crazy as bedbugs or smoke way too much weed. Not making any accusations here, just an observation.

My only comment can be that every place on earth has it's problems. You just find a place you love where the problems are ones you can deal with. I am eager to get out of my current location, but I would never say it's a bad place...just the wrong one for me.

Before everything changed, the thread was interesting...about the pit the world has become because of lack of respect and teachers with their hands tied with their students running the show. This is precisely why we homeschool our children. It's a great chance to make learning a lifestyle instead of a job. Schools have taken the power away from the parents and the teachers, leaving our children flapping in the breeze...
