First time in Alaska and we'll have a car so we want to explore as much as possible in 9 days.

Anyone have any "must do" activities? Like scenic drives and hiking trails? Not looking for anything extreme on the hiking. Something the family can do.

Thanks my friends!

Don't make anchorage your base. Many things you will want to do will spend many hours driving. Plan for nights in many different communities. Alaska is large. Anchorage is the main area. But it's almost 8 hour drive to Denali (one way).

You might consider doing the Anchorage to Denali to Fairbanks and back to Anchorage loop. On the return from Fairbanks to Anchorage go via Delta Junction and Glennallen. It is about 800 miles round trip

If time permits you could do a second trip Of Anchorage to either Whittier or Seward and then take a glacier cruise. Whittier is an easy day trip. Seward is doable in one day (250 miles round trip)

If you don't want to spend too much time driving then consider heading out to the Mat-Su valley.

A couple things to consider. No matter where you drive to you will be behind every motorhome ever made.

Hotels and campgrounds fill up fast in the summer. And, they ain't cheap.

Alaskan has many forest fires. Most are North of Fairbanks but the smoke can reduce visibility to less than a quarter of a mile in Fairbanks

If you don't already have one be sure to get a current copy of The Milepost. You can get all sorts of ideas on what to do and see from The Milepost

In addition to the research you do here, you might also want to do some research on the TripAdvisor Forum for Alaska: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForu...49-Alaska.html
Who is "we"? A young energetic couple? Mom, dad and some toddlers? Teens? Older folks? Budget? What is you are hoping to see and do?

Or look for yourself. I'm not convinced this was a troll post, and if so, someone else will benefit from the information provided anyway.
