I remember watching "Northern Exposure" years ago, and seeing the doctor struggling with that time. He was up for days!

May I ask what you do for a living? Or are you a "jack of all trades" like it appears many people up there are?
What do I do for a living...well right now I'm a Realtor...as you can see from my webpage. I've been doing that since 1991.

Before that I made my living as a teacher, a construction worker, commercial fisherman, trapper, among other things.

Most long term Alaskans made a decision to live here and we will do whatever it takes to make a living.

alaskaboy is on a distinguished road
Yes it is true. 24 hours of light in the summer and yes it is great! You have to watch things, as during the height of summer you will grab the lawn mower to start mowing your yard. Then yikes, you realize it is 11 P.M. I live in the valley, just outside Anchorage about 40 miles. We are not quite as far north so we get a dusk, then a sunrise, but it never actually gets dark. You never really seem to know what time it is during summer, nor do you really care. Hey it's light out, just keep doing stuff.

It is also true you sleep far less in the summer months. The long days of sun seem to give people more energy. I always say the summers make up for the long winters. Summers here are incredible and like no other place to be found on earth.

Winters are nice too in their own special way. I am always ready for the seasonal change by March though.

As a fellow Midwesterner who is misplaced in WA, I would say, yes people here are VERY snooty, entitled, and passive-agressive. Job market is great, but then, you deal with the rat race. and yucky people

Cobolt, we're still in the planning stage of the road trip to Minnesota. We might catch a Rush Concert at Ridgefield at the Clark County Amphitheater. That would mean a trip to Raymond and Long Beach, I love that part of Washington State. We're still working out details.
