Lol. We'll see how the weather is when I make my final decision. I put a lot of miles on my Honda for my job and I don't want it to devalue too quickly so this must be taken into account also.

She's still waiting on licensing in AK. Government bureaucracy is truly astonishing to behold. It takes weeks to get a preliminary application approved so that she can submit the final application JUST TO RELEASE TEST SCORES FROM YEARS AGO! And some people want the government to take over health care.
God help us all. However, she has heard from a few companies and the ball is rolling. |

Ah Classic', I agree w/Warpt' on driving instead of going by ferry. Though the ferry is less expensive during the off season, it is still more expensive than driving. Coming out of Bellingham is more expensive than driving up to to Prince Rupert for the ferry. During this time of the year, they do not run as often. I think they stop running during part of the winter season. I've been on that road alone 4 times, 8 if you count the return trip and I am driving a monster. And I am no spring chicken so I drive slower. You certainly will be making better time than I would both in speed and driving time hours. Those pics Warpt posted are what you are going to miss. Yes, you will see sceneries and relax at the same time when on a ferry but the drive IMHO is better. Rotor' do have a point though. You can be as relax as you want to be and, as the Greyhound bus people use to say; "And leave the driving to us". If you are going to keep your CRV for some time, why worry about the mileage? Besides, if you are driving in Alaska, even if just commuting, your car will age quicker than in the lower 48. As a matter of fact, I will be towing a CRV coming up this year.
Hey Rotor', save a spot for me in Haines. I should see you in July. This time I am hopeful to bring a couple of Grankids w/me. Did that place up the coast, FSBO ever sell? Last edited by RAMFEB31; 03-01-2008 at 02:19 AM. Reason: additions |

Classic'. A question. I did not know the CRV can handle a 26 footer. How does the car handle? I was told by the Honda dealer it can handle only a very light trailer. Mine is a '05 which suppose to have a few more horses and 1 more gear than the previous models. I was going to pull a very small camping trailer with it and they shook their head gave me the 'are you crazy?' look.

Rammer, when are you heading north? I might be heading south at the end of May when I get back from Europe. I might head down to Minnesota to help a couple friends move down. Where are you anyways?

As soon as my family reunion is done end of June, I will be heading up. Of course, if my younger grandkids are in tow, it may be a few days later. I suppose to have a place up your way last year but it did not work out. Maybe this year the seller will be more amenable. But if the stock market continue its down trend, I may end up w/a shack. I am in So. Ca so it may not do you much good.
