Hi all,
The kids are grown and gone now and me and mama decided it is time for a move! We have both decided Alaska is the place for us. We have had family and friends live there and they all recomend it to us. We have been doing very extensive reasearch online on different places to live. From what we see online we are liking Moose Pass, Sterling, and Anchor Poin + a few others. Both our friends and family all lived on the Kenai Peninsula. We definitly want to live on the Peninsula for the hunting, fishing, trapping, and wildlife watching. Jobs aren't much of an issue for us, I am selfemployed and mama is a school teacher. Could anyone here give us a little input on these areas? We are going to spend the month of July on the Peninsula, checking things out, maybe buying a home. Thanks all, Trapperken & Danette |

They are all nice and smaller communities along the highway. Sterling is closest to Soldotna/Kenai (the so called twin cities) and is centrally located on the peninsula. Anchor Point is a coastal community. Both of these are on the Sterling Highway. Moose Pass is on the Seward Highway and has the railroad tracks going through it. Pretty scenic area.

Thanks Rance.
Moose Pass has got my attention more that the others. Is anyone on here from there? Or have ever lived there? We would really like some local input. Thanks, Ken |

There is one member from Moose Pass. I have not seen her post in awhile. Maybe she'll stop in.

I'm in Sterling. Maybe an hour drive from Moose Pass.

I've notice more and more Troopers patrolling around Moose Pass and the point where the Sterling Highway comes out of the mountains on that big long straight. This is road kill moose area.

The Sterling Flats! A well known speeding zone. Just about anywhere from the Seward turn off to Homer is moose road kill zone. They even put in 1/2 mile markers so folks can call in and report animals on or near the road. I think they are trying to collect data for a future moose/caribou crossings like they did outside of Anchorage.

How is the Sterling area? That is one of our picks so far from the recearch we have been doing. Our Realtor has sent us a few listings from that area.
Moose hunting is a big interest of mine, also fishing and trapping. Ken |
