That's the word from Juneau too.

My family lives in a pretty nice area outside of North Pole (I know, I know... no comments from the peanut gallery! haha) and one of their 4wheelers and my niece's bicycle were stolen in broad daylight while they were at church. @holes

Key word that makes the "nice" part believable

Not sure if it is attracting so much...I think they were already here. But with the drugs and SB91 catch and release program, the SOB's are more apt and brazen to stealing to supply their habits. I would like to think if some law abiding citizens could catch and shoot a few might slow it down, but it also could lead to these SOB's to start carrying and using firearms themselves.

Was nice to see those two guys chase down the purse snatcher the other day in Anchorage, and give him a beat down before turning him over to the cops.

Yeah, there's always been a bad element to an extent here, but I've noticed quite a few new faces of the unsavory type too. Maybe I'll build a wall to keep the white trash out.

Someone showed up here recently who was literally red-faced furious because we weren't open. Yelling, threatening, and it wouldn't have surprised me if the situation had devolved into violence.

Cant, then the cops knock on your door, that's the problem.

Do we have a stand your ground law here and does anyone know what the legal precedent is if you have to shoot in self defense and it results in a fatality? Are you fighting an uphill 5 figure legal battle or are you questioned for an hour and are on your way?

What is the precedent for gangs who are not clearly armed but who match your movements when you try to get away?

I am not worried about inside my home am a little worried if I am in my truck and very worried if I had to defend myself on foot in public place where they don't clearly have a weapon but are far larger or in a group and chasing me.

Also there are lines out the door at all the passport post offices for passports. We are talking lines out the door.

Not sure if its for the mass exodus through Canada in the spring when kids are out of school
So that people can get on JBER -unlikely since most have military or DOD ID's
Or because less states TSA are taking Alaska ID's for general travel (not exodus travel).

I guess we will see this spring when school is out why so many in Anchorage/valley are getting passports.
