You CAN be hired on as a Wildlife Trooper directly, but you spend 1 year as a blueshirt Trooper first. There is no wait list to become a State Trooper. You either get hired or you don't.

High school, I'd guess.

After completing the Academy. And there is a backlog of applicants for the Academy at present, isn't there?

I've never been swimming in the rain here is SE AK! I've watched people surfing in the rain here though.

I dunno. If you're not down with lots of rain ... you're probably not gonna be down with cold, dark, windy, snowy, frosty winters. This all just sounds like a disaster waiting to unfold.

I'd suggest getting a seasonal job and actually seeing th state before making up your mind. Lots of work available on Coolworks.com and most come with room and board.

ETA I'm not sure that troopers get to pick and choose their locations until they have years of seniority.

If you don't have at least a bachelor's degree you'll never get hired. If you can afford to put yourself through the academy, then you might get hired by Bethel PD. After a few years you'd be in a better position to get hired by AST. Even then, a bachelor's degree would greatly enhance your chances.

Expect a remote posting after a year or two on the job.

Start with a seasonal job. You'll get to see the state and put some cash in your pocket. https://www.coolworks.com/alaska-jobs/
