Anyone that ignores that black line going up their arm deserves to loose it.

I've been in the AK Commercial fish industry since 1985. From fish slimer to Corp Management, including Safety Management for Alaska's largest seafood employer.

I've never seen or heard of this this happening.

I mean how leveraging is the pay to deal with potentially sketchy people.

I think some college students are just dumb and the owners of the facilities need fresh meat thus they are not going to volunteer information about the other crazies they have on staff. Everything is great .... until it isent and now you have a serious injury from either an assult or shabby working conditions they swept under the rug and hid from OSHA because its too expensive to deal with.

Alot of these facilities are also in remote locations, I have heard (at least for some of them) that once you get out there if things start going south your responsible for your own trip out if you quit ... there goes your profit as a college student if you make it a week and have to buy a 1200 ticket back.
This post is hardly worth a reply, all I say is you're too ignorant and misinformed to speak with any authority.

For everyones best interest, please stop.

Sounds to me like stepdaddy was working near or at a place that was engaged in a labor dispute if what you're saying is true.
If you just want to spew vitriol then there is no need to continue.

Can you prove otherwise? Or is this vitriol the result of me opening up a can of worms. Usually personal attacks like this result once someone gets a little too close to an ugly truth.

I highly doubt these are nice office conditions at these plants, i dont need to go visit one to figure this out, thats what an idiot would do.

^ Nice to see you finally scrounged enough couch cushion change to buy some Costco beer.

Good luck in your new job search. Do you think you'll have to leave the state to find employment?

Actually, I'm not really interested in your job status anyway, so thanks for sparing me the update. Just thought I saw you whining about losing your latest job and wondered if you've run out of places in Anchorage where you can apply.

Don't dish it out if you can't take it, Ron.

I did not dish anything out and I dont have to take anything. I simply stated what I had heard about these places and it does not take a PhD to know that the working conditions are likely subpar. Sorry you are butt hurt about that. I dont know what kind of vested interest you have in these cannerys but I know they are not nice places to work, too bad if that bothers you. I would rather be homeless than work some place like that.

You sound like the indignant wife of a fisherman who wanted me to go on a boat when I was like 20 because her husband got hurt or somehting and I said no way, this was at MY familys socail function no less and she threw a little tantrum like a child, how dare I turn down such a "great" opprotunity to go out into the bering sea and fish on a dingy in 20 ft swells. Some people lol.

I am a free person I dont have to do squat. and I will let people know the realities of these "alaska" jobs.

BTW you never mentioned the pay, im guessing because its slave wages. I am guessing the shril voice and shouting about "being a man" for hard work and low pay is not working with the younger generations anymore lol. I am guessing you are thanking your lucky stars you are perhaps retirement age because your attitude would result in rampant turn around with the younger crowd, I could see myself quiting in like 5 min of face to face converation with you.

^ Yawn. Not even worth a response. Even Sarah Palin worked at a cannery to pay her way through college, like I said before, but I suppose you got a free ride from stepdaddy. No one cares if it isn't work that you want to do, but putting down those who do is bad form.
