Default Met is right

Met ur right--in my line of work I've seen this in action recently--Mining is really exploding in some areas here (SE)--in recent year, even months--explorations are being done, mines are being re-opened or expanded, and new ones are coming--despite tough regs. I anticipate that some of those tough regs will just be sidelined or ignored--like what happens in any boom. Small prospectors are even coming up to find/stake gold claims on Nat. Forest land--not in droves but definitely more than past.

But yeah--transitory is still the main description that fits a lot of this area. It's amazing, however, what creativity stems from people who REALLY want to find a way to stay and live well in AK. Some of the things we do for money--defy belief. Sunken ship came in the other day and my buddy went to work swabbing out all the oil/fuel from the depths of it--breathing in stuff no one should breathe in--very dangerous and hazardous--but hey--tax free few hundred bucks.

I'm surprised that no one has checked out the lakes for submerged logs. They're worth a lot of $$$ to manufacturers.

Barkin--yeah that's true--was just watching a special on Disc. channel or some such the other ngiht and it was talking about recovering logs from the Great Lakes--going for up to $100.00 per BF in some cases!! Because of the unique coloring, texture, age---lots of moola there for at least one enterprising company in the area. Wow--so I wonder if the logs were somehow submerged in more salt water (inlets etc) what they would be like after 50-100 yrs. Something to Google...
