Um, still sees snow outside and minus 4 degrees. I want spring, now! I'm sick of winter and sick of snow.

I was stuck in Fairbanks all winter, so our current weather here in Anchorage is realllly nice. It was a little colder today, but has been nice in the last week. It hit -70 for a couple days around Tok. Nothing like working outside in -70.

Anyways, it won't be long.

I think this year is going to flood on the Kuskokwim, the ice is thick and so is the snowpack.

That will make for a lot of water on the tundra, and eventually a lot
of mosquitos...

How does Bethel or any of the towns on the Kuskokwim cope with the flooding? They all are right there next to the river, and an ice jam would, and probably has inundated the town with icy cold water.

Are the houses on stilts? Are the people on stilts?
Does everyone hang out in a wet suit during the spring... You know, just in case.
Is the furniture hung from the rafters, come springtime ice breakup?

It is one thing to get flooded in the lower 48, but usually you can still swim and survive in that water without getting hypothermia.
