Default Fort Greely HELP

I plan to move the end of spring to Fort Greely. I am a Department of the Army employee (GS-12). Housing there seems scarce? Does anyone know if I will be able to live in base housing being a Government employee? If not how do people up there afford a 250,000 thousand home when the medium income is 50,000 thousand dollars or so a year?

I don't know if you can get military housing to live in, but you may be able to rent an apartment in Delta Junction nearby. You will need a vehicle that's in good condition, and winterized, to drive back and forth. Keep in mind that you will be moving to the interior where it gets quite cold during the winter months. It gets quite windy around Fort Greely, but the cold can be fierce.

Military Installation Guides 2.0

or this one. You can get the zip code from this one, and enter it on the first link (above):

Good answer Ray. I myself have no idea, but here is one additional link that will hook you up with Fort Greely's Housing Office--even if they can't give you on post housing, they will be able to give you rental/buying contacts out in the Delta Junction (quite the run-on sentence, huh).

At the above link, look under "G" / Greely. Your car can wait to be winterized until you get up here...SPRING/SUMMER/BREAKUP! are rapidly approaching (one less stressor for you) . The mechanics up here are old pros at it and will be able to hook you up before next winter comes around.

Talking about Spring, I was just looking at the willow buds starting to show (not far from Fairbanks). But it's still getting to below zero during the night.
