Alright Alaskans, I have a couple questions that should be fun to answer for you. #1: What's the most freaked out, scariest encounter you've had w/wildlife up there? If you haven't had an encounter, how about the coolest wildlife thing you've seen?

Alaskan's aren't "freaked out" by wildlife. That is a lower-48 thing.

I was snorkling on a reef off Barbados. I thought I saw something interesting in the rocks & swam closer to see what it was. It turned out to be a 6' Moray Eel & it was not happy to see me.
I got out of there so fast that I was actually running through the water. |

"Cool!" I thought, and inched a little closer, hoping for a better view, but it wasn't what I thought at all... It was a drunk guy. ![]() |

Yeah, it was. There was a patch of that really stiff seagrass growing right next to him and he was batting his hands at it like a cat.

One time for my birthday me, the ex wife (gag), my at the time 8 yo son and a buddy took a drive around Skilak Loop. I saw a bear step off the road into the brush so I pulled over at hidden creek. We all got out and were standing on the edge of the road. It was a brownie with a cub. Suddenly another cub appeared. When I said hey look another cub the sow turned and covered the 60 or 70 feet in two bounds...skidding to a halt about 20 foot in front of me. It seemed like slow motion. The sun was on her face and it was the most beautiful bear coloring I have ever seen. She finally turned and walked back to the cubs. Happy Birthday to me! She let me live to see the next one!
