Is it safe to walk a dog at night in Juneau, or is there too much wild life around (bears)?

Depends on where you are walking. If your dog is on a leash you are probably OK anywhere.

I don't think bears are normally more dangerous at night than during the day.

You want to follow the same precautions you would during the day. Dog on a leash, walk in open spaces rather than overgrown paths where you might surprise a bear or it might surprise you, be aware of your surroundings, don't be stealthy, etc.

Agree with everything above.

LEASH, please. Many dog owners apparently don't care that others sharing their spaces don't want to interact with their pets, but they should care about keeping their animals alive.

They passed a new ordinance that prohibits dog walking in the city limits.

Here's another way for a non leashed dog to meet its demise in the Juneau area, also occurring this spring.

Coyotes are found in the area too, and rarely even mountain lions.
