That pattern on the ground is not unusual and can be seen during the Spring before the ice melts. Then during the summer the ice roads are not longer visible as the vegetation returns to normal. Now, if the same was done during the summer, then the pattern on the tundra would take a few years to disappear. But as it is, only ice-roads can be used.
