I'll be moving permanently on Sept 18 and I have a friend who wants to buy a gun or a few guns from me.

I currently have a .22 rifle, .22 pistol, .380 pistol. From my understanding I can just write a bill of sale and that's the end of it (as long as he's over 21 and an Alaskan Resident). Is there a limit to how many I can sell him? Is my understanding correct?

I know he won't commit a crime with any of these weapons, but I don't want to risk someday him robbing a store and the gun being traced to me lol.

Thanks!

In Alaska there are ZERO regulations regarding the sale of firearms between individuals. Just keep the records like you've outlined and you'll be fine. That way if the ATF every calls you about one of these firearms you can say you sold it to Joe Blow on such and such date.

It does occasionally happen. They tracked me down 2 years ago in regards to a Ruger Mini 14 that was used in an armed robbery in California. I was able to tell them that I had sold that rifle 15 years ago and who bought it. I never heard back from them.

I agree with everything stiffnecked said and there is no background check or waiting period that needs to be performed. However, I would add that there is form that you might find useful. You do NOT have to send this form to anyone, it is for your records, as seller, and the records of the purchaser.

Yes to all the above, a paper trail is for your own protection. Keep it in a safe place.

He may be a good guy but he may have them stolen also and used in a crime. I still wonder about some of the guns I sold as a dealer over 20 yrs ago, but I have all the records as does the BATF - protection!

I think that is OK if you are non-FFL.

FFL does the background checks etc but as 2nd poster said... Between two people? Game on.

I'll take non-FFL all day.

Alaska.. such a freedom-loving state. The Last Frontier. I should go there.

Yeah, I'll take Alaska.
As for FFL, read the handout since it doesn't matter how many you handle, it is "are you dealing?"
