Well, last night we decided to come up and scope things out for a quick, unfortunately only
, weekend. Wish we had more time, but oh well. We'll be flying out of either Pellston or Traverse City (still working on the flights) to Anchorage May 1st. and heading back May 4th, arriving the 5th. We'll have 2 full days and 2 half days (at both ends of the flight) there. We plan to stay at Hotel Alyeska. Any other recommendations to stay?We plan on heading north one of the days to the Mat-Su, maybe Hatchers Pass to check out Wasila and Palmer. We want to get an idea of the drive time. I know weather can change the time, we live in the snow belt of northern Michigan. Then south the other day, not sure how far or where to. Some of you might remember that our original plan was moving to Kenai due to the new Lowe's store and my wife getting a transfer there. But I just don't see much work for myself there. That's way around Anc./Mat-Su. Ideas? The last day, flight leaves at 4:30pm , we will be in Anchorage checking things out.On another note...We first planned on moving in July, that has changed. My wife wants to get in some more management training before we go. That has pushed things back about a month or so. Our new plan is to leave first part of September. No matter what, it all sounds good to me. I watch the jobs in the Anc. area for myself, it seems as though I shouldn't have much of a problem. When the time gets closer, I'll be sending out the resumes.Hmm, long winded I guess...that's it ![]() |

Well, have a great time. Not sure it's economical to pay through the nose for tickets and only spend a weekend, but what the hey. Take lots of pictures...

Ya I know...the cost is way too much, nose ears and every other, but it's about the only time we have before the move. Either way, damn I can't wait!

Are you still planning on driving up? Read up on megensmom and her drive up from the right coast. She made good time on her drive up.

Not driving this trip, flying. We are driving when we move, but we plan on taking lots of time to sight see everything along the way.
