I was in Haines Junction last summer and I don't recall meeting any Asian workers/business owners. Hell, even the person who served us Chinese food was white, lol.

Canadians being code for white, I guess.

What makes you think the Asian person you saw in Haines Junction wasn't a Canadian citizen?

Haines Junction is a sweet little town and I usually end up staying a night there. I like the motel right on the main corner with the attached restaurant/bar. Last time I was there, the bartender was a nice Australian fellow on a work visa who was absolutely hilarious.

I do think northern Canada along the Alaska highway generally brings in lots of people on work visas. A local in Watson lake once complained to me on how they had to bus in a bunch of foreign workers to clean the hotel rooms as they literally couldn't find anyone local willing to be housekeepers.

According to this census data there are very few Chinese in Haines Junction.
