Believe it or not we live out in farm country and don't have a lot of organic options.. now isn't that interesting..

You really can't get any more organic than pulling veggies out of the ground.

Are you able to harvest a good amount of produce? Do you have deer & birds that try to eat everything?

Default Grocery Shopping with Xa'at

Okay, one hour in Freddies that I'll never, ever get back later, I've got your price list for you.

Nestea Ice Tea- $4.29 Unsweetened was all they carried, so I presume you're going to need to add your own sugar if that's how you take it.
Bottled Water- $5.99 "Arrowhead" brand, 24 half litre bottles.
Frosted Flakes- $4.49 They're grrrreat!
Baby Carrots- $3.49 Standard size bag.
Cauliflower- $2.00 Individually wrapped heads.
Tapioca Pudding- $1.50 Vanilla pudding that some six year old boy filled with snot.
Vanilla Ice Cream- $4.99 Gallon tub.
Chips Ahoy "Chewy" Cookie- $3.69 Yum.
"Silk" Soy Milk- $6.39 For a two pack.
Tofutti Ice Cream Bars- $3.99 The only Tofutti product they carried.
12 Pack Soda- $7.99 Any flavor you like.

I also have my receipt of what I actually bought, so here's some more prices:

Paper Towels- $1.99 Recycled, unbleached. One roll.
"Organic Valley" Nonfat Milk- $3.59 1/2 gallon.
Pre-cut Cantaloupe- $2.39 "Small" size.
Strawberries- $3.50 Normal strawberry box size, organic.
String Beans- $2.99/lb I don't even know why I bought these. They looked like they had been sitting there for an awful long time. I just love string beans sooo much...
Fuji Apples- $2.78/lb Organic.
Turkey Bacon- $2.99 Wish they had this in organic, but organic bacon is an oxymoron.
"Endangered Species" Chocolate Bar- $2.49 Mmmm, Peace Crane.

Last but finally not least...

Unleaded Gas-
$3.55/gal The surpreme irony is this oil probably came from the north slope, got sent to the gulf coast to be refined, and finally shipped all the way back up here.

Ta-da! Hope this helps...!

Except for the soda those prices don't seem too bad. Now for your trip to Costco...

Xa'at, I'd rep you for your effort but this stupid site won't let me throw you any more love.

Anyway....Some of those prices seem in line with the lesser 48, kinda sad. We're about 10 cents behind in the petro.

I remember going grocery shopping in JNU (it was my first time) and wanting a bottle of V8. The 64 ounce was like 5 something and I thought "well I guess I won't be drinking that here." I purchased alot of the generic brand type stuff...as for fruits and veggies...well....you fall off your rocker when you see the prices of the stuff....then you return to the lesser 48, walk into a grocery store and your eyes are like assulted by all the color. "Gee, the produce here actually has color. Tomatoes are actually RED" LOL.....But....you gotta have your fruits and veggies, so you pay. The ex would buy that frozen crap and boil the hell out of it. Pointless......

How anyone can not like tapioca pudding is beyond me. The stuff is really good on saltine crackers! Just like applesauce is good on saltines.
