All of Juneau...actually anywhere is pretty much prone to avalanches. They've been getting alot of snow the past few years. I saw an avalanche in action as I was flying in SE. I have a pic of it somewhere. I'll see if I can find it. People who hike the Chilkoot Trail up there near White Pass are warned about avalanche danger, espeically early on in the summer. It's just the way it is.
