Juneau is filled with whining liberals who, at the first sign of trouble, go crying to the government to get taxpayers to bail them out. That "give-me" attitude is more suited for the lesser-48 than Alaska.
Yet another reason to move the capital out of Juneau.

I pay from $600.00 to $800.00 a month for utilities (heating fuel + electricity) near Fairbanks. Going to install a wood stove this summer, along a few other things around the house to bring the cost down a little.

I don't live in Juneau...but I'd just as soon keep the capitol there.

Dude, you're the one that needs to get a grip yourself. I don't know why you have this personal vendetta against Juneau but I strongly suspect you've never even been here and I know for a fact that you don't have a clue what the hell you're talking about. So knock off the bashing and find someplace where you can actually contribute something positive for once.

Yeah, this is probably what a lot of people are going to be doing. Unfortunately, most of our forest is protected and I believe it is illegal to go onto a national forest and cut down the trees... unless you're the government. So those people who have a lot of forestation on their property, which is fairly rare since most people don't own more than an acre or so of land here, are going to be getting rich!

There is no way in hades I would allow the capitol to be re-located in Sterling. The last thing we need is a bunch of politicians strolling around like they own the place! Nope...they should just stay in Juneau! And they should kick out for some electric bill.

Alaska would save billions-in travel alone-by moving the capital to Anchorage, or Willow, or even to Fairbanks. It costs quite a lot to travel to Juneau, and there are quite a lot of representatives and their aids moving around with their travel, and lodging paid for.
Now, about firewood, I would think that folks should be able to get permits to cut fallen trees from areas that have trails and such. The State allows for gathering firewood from public lands (with permits), and maybe the Feds do the same.
