Your gonna have a tough time with the cat. I know a few landlords in KTN and no cat's allowed. You might check at Tongass Realty and see if they have anything at the Revilla. You can also check or call each real estate agent. If it was me I would find a new home for the cat.

Ketchikan's a fairly transitory community and that has a lot to do with why rentals that allow pets aren't easy at all to find. If you're coming up for a job here that will keep you here for awhile, explain that to any landlords you talk to. You probably won't be able to get around the no-pet policy with property management companies but you might have some luck with individual landlords. What they're really trying to avoid is people moving away and leaving pets behind; happens every fall when the summer workers forget to stuff Fluffy in their carpetbags.

Smart answer. I looked at one of those $500 places not long ago when I was considering getting a side apartment in Ketchikan...I can fix any place up but...basically it was just a tiny room, you could here the neighbors making all sorts of unsavory noises, booze bottles and cig butts in the hallway, and it stunk.

You might look into the Super8 for an extended stay--not sure what their rates are. It isn't the best but it's also far from the worst.
