Yeah, I saw it. The movie actually was worth watching; you got a good feel for what a crazy SOB he was; the director didn't spare footage of Treadwell acting like a maniac. But his "friends" who romanticized every element of him and looked up to him like some kind of "bear god"---- puke! I could never watch it again though--I got so enraged I broke my remote the first time!
Overall, the movie was still way too much on Treadwell's side. It would be real interesting to see an interview with that poor girl's parents and see what they thought of that prissy, self-righteous blond maniac. Poor people.
Only heard parts of tape that were played in movie; sounded like a pretty damn gruesome (and not short) way to go. *shudder*

Oh, ACK.
Never saw "Grizzly Man" nor heard the tape; I've read that the audio is soul-destroyingly horrifying. There's a reason they're called "wild animals", dude. I keep waiting for some goober to try becoming "Shark Man" or "Black Mamba Man"; genius has its limits, but stupidity is bottomless. Ye gods.

On the other hand, if he had tried the same "experiment" with lions or tigers, he wouldn't have survived for 13 years...maybe 2 days ?

On the other hand, Charlie Russell did the same thing, and did not end up eaten by a bear! so luck, or professionalism, or both, do play a part!
But somehow I can't help feeling sorry for Treadwell, he was probably a moron, but seemed a very kind man, after all , we are all moronic at times , aren't we ?

I think what people and Hollywood are leaving out of this story is the man was mentally ill. He was not totally right in his mind and family members said he suffered from delusions. In my opinion this is probably the key contributing factor in his death. Yet I'll bet they leave that out of the story. People call the man names like idiot, and fool, and so on, but in my opinion the whole situation was just sad. The guy should have never been out there, he was not mentally equiped to do so.

You're absolutely right. On Herzog's footage, he sometimes ranted like a madman.
But on the other hand I found some gross, hateful, violent commentaries on YouTube deeply unsettling.
My God, the poor dude is dead, what's the use, these guys don't even show respect for the dead.
