My wife and I are thinking about moving to Alaska. Not right now but maybe in 2-3 years. After researching various Alaskan cities, we are quite fascinated by the idea of living in Juneau.
I am currently a police officer and would be interested in continuing as a police officer wherever we decide to move. I was wondering what the locals think of the PD in Juneau. In your opinion, would serving as a Juneau officer be a source of pride? or scorn? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks |

Good department. I hear that Bethel PD is also looking for some recruits.

just stay away from the nazis,,,, i mean police departments in the matsu valley...
I was raised in a law enforcement household, and i respect and obide the law, but the cops in the valley are just plain ol' a-holes... i've been pulled over twice after dropping my girlfriend off at work, (a bar) and had to do breath tests/ field sobriety tests,,etc, bcuz the cop was sitting across the street at the bank waiting for patrons of the bar to leave. and I've never been ticketed. i know better than to drink and drive... and if i'm not mistaken, that's intrament? sorry for the rant...lol ya juneau, go for it man... hahahhaa |

Actually, that is not entrapment. Just cause someone pulls out of a tavern or bar doesn't give an officer probable cause to pull them over. But if they see them stumbling and staggering around before they get in the car they are well on the way to having probable cause.

Actually, you are mistaken. Entrapment is when the police somehow compel or trick you to into committing a criminal act.
Thanks for the input though. ![]() |

I guess the reason I was so mad about being pulled over, is, it was the same cop. same time of day, etc. and he could not give me a good reason as to why he made me get out, do field sobriety tests, etc. the breathalizer, maybe, but after that, why the field sobriety test? I blew a 0.0 the first stop. and a .03 the second. I had one beer with dinner the second time. I'm kind of a skinny guy, so imo my blood alchahol was a little high for one beer, but anyways.... he shortly found out I was not uncapable of driving. I had hip surgery about 10 yrs ago, and kinda have a limp.... ish.. so maybe that's what made him suspicious? ya, sorry if i offended anyone, I'm not a cop hater. Just peeved with the wasilla PD |
