Reliable mobile phone service?
I'm moving to Juneau and have to change my mobile phone service. I noticed that Verizon and AT&T both offer service in the area, but am loathe to sign up for either of them without testimonials from real users. I've had bad experiences with AT&T in the past. Can anyone give me any input on which service to choose?
Many thanks!

AT&T just bought out Cellular One, which was our dominant carrier. There however is another carrier called ACS, which quite a few people have now. I would go with either of those two. Mainly because they both have offices in Juneau just in case something goes wrong.

Barkingowl: You have Sprint and roam on it? How does that work out for you? Sprint is the carrier I have now.

Well when I was in Mexico it was $$$$. I upgraded to the Everything plan & it includes roaming in North America, so we'll see what happens. I've been worried about not having any phone service in AK.

I have TMobile and never had any problem while in Juneau, dont' get charged for roaming, and my phone still works in the lesser 48. It runs off the Cell One towers, so that's another option.

we use AT&T and have had no problems; other than some people in this house forget to put the darn thing on the charger. Which is not AT&T's fault.

My son had Sprint when he was at college and it worked fine here years ago. He did have to move around a bit to get a signal, but that may have been the phone.

At least you have a phone. I had one for about 3 months, then a son came home from college and got it because it was the number his friends knew (we were able to get an old number back).
