Reg unleaded is 3.99 a gal in Sterling, AK (alaska not arkansas) yesterday. One station in Soldotna was up over 4 bucks.
One thing I have noticed. More kids were out riding horses yesterday than 4 wheelers and dirt bikes.

Thanks everyone. It tells me one thing; gas prices are not a heck of lot different In your neck of the wood as mine. L.A., S.F and Sacramental have stations at or above $4 a gallon for the lowest grade and averaging $4.70/gal on diesel. At this rate, I may need to get back into the workforce.

The truth of the matter is, I've bought and used diesel vehicles for over 20 years both in business and in personal use supposedly because of the claims of higher efficiency and durability. For the trucking and industrial or specialty groups who generally use larger engines, this premise is probably true especially when their vehicles sustain very high mileage in a relatively short period of time. And, of course, diesel fuel was less expensive than the cheapest gas. But for smaller personal use vehicles, that benefit may be doubtful when you add in the cost premium the vehicle commands as well the higher maintenance cost and depreciation. When you factor in miles driven though the ownership life, diesel is a luxury. But, you don't discuss reality with us pighead diehards.

I am going with diesel mostly for reliability. Especially if I am going to be driving between Haines and Anchorage alot.
