Burgers made from Caribou. Add a little garlic, sage, and rosemary, toss in some crumbled blue cheese and grill them to perfection. Good stuff!

Thanks Glitch. Are there any restaurants in the valley that serve them?

Not that I am aware. The closest restaurant I know that sells caribou (steaks, not burgers) is in Glennallen.

To be honest, I don't see that Juneau's situation should be classifed as a federal emergency. It is a state/city issue and the state and city and power company need to work together to solve it. To throw federal money at things like this, continually, is one reason our budget is what it is. Palin and the rest need to ensure that the average resident won't be asked to pay enormous energy bills somehow--this is why (supposedly) we elect people; to come up with creative ways to solve large community problems like this when they arise.

Let the partying in the villages begin.......and to think, some us here have been fighting for you......

I'm just wondering if the Anchorage bowl suffered a similar fate, would it too be handled in a similar way as the JNU situation. Something tells me......not.

I believe some people are confused over the difference in "emergency assistance" and "handout".

Again, this is just not a federal issue; the power company and the city, who built the plant together, are the ones to look for to cover the losses, with the State also being involved. No one is OUT of power, either...it's not even a true emergency at this stage. (Unless I'm wrong--if there are people living there with no power source because of this, my apologies).

I don't see Palin helping anybody out, once she decides there's logical thinking for reconsideration. Just look at the corrections incident where so many declared Schmidt to be incompetent but she would even look into it.

She says that she is for Alaska but she needs to be reminded that there is more to Alaska than the valley

Maybe the residents of Juneau should get off the grid...and the electric company can sit there and wonder what to do with all that power. Candles, woodstoves, and solar panels.
