We would like to share our impressions about the GEOS-LTC International College, Compton Park, Compton Place Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex BN21 1EH, England for the people who are planning to send their children to study in England.
This summer we witnessed the downside of the British summer schools, the business approach to education of kids where their health has become less important than the money they pay to GEOS-LTC International College, Compton Park, Compton Place Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex BN21 1EH, England. In GEOS school when the first cases of swine flu occurred the school kept on accepting kids. The administration of school continued communication with us, parents, till the departure time as if nothing happened in school. They were discussing the details of payment for transfer, penalties for damages to school property, etc. but the fact that the school had proven cases of swine flu were never mentioned.
When our kid arrived in school it was already under quarantine with one confirmed case of swine flu and seven other kids had been isolated with suspicion for swine flu.
None of the letters from the school administration we received a day before departure contained any information about the cases of swine flu in the school and the kids, which were in the school already, were instructed to just wash hands although it is a respiratory disease.
There were many international kids in this school and not only from Europe but from quite faraway countries. Most of the kids had to immediately return home to avoid infection. None of them received any compensation. The reaction of Paul Clark the headmaster of the school to the complains of the parents speaks for itself - "This means that we do not give refunds to students who go home early because of swine flu except in exceptional circumstances", he wrote. I wonder what are they (exceptional circumstances)? In everything what the administration was doing we felt the money approach and eagerness to get the money without any care for kids’ health and life. They were touting people to school on the background of spreading infection on the territory of their school.
