Our mixed-breed dog is named Mattie, short for Matanuska. I've heard plenty of great Alaska names for dogs, like Chugiak, Kenai, Kodiak, etc.

I had a fox named Skilak...and another fox named Kiska. I had a dog named Bummer once. And another named Lobo.

good ideas folks. I have a map of AK on my landing at home and I love to look at the names of rivers, towns, outposts, mountains ect. for ideas. I like the name Chena but I knew a dog once by that name and thus, don't feel it's that original. I also like the name Lituyla after the bay. What about some native names or words. Any thoughts on where I could find a list or translation of common words?
