Default Just curious

How is the racism there in Alaska? Is it pretty prevalent all over or just in certain areas? Just wondering, here in Milwaukee it's been getting pretty bad, lots of people bitching about illegal immigrants & black people & crime. It's become that a lot of people who post on our forum ask immediately about it, or at least about the crime & where are the bad neighborhoods. Sad really.

racism and bigotry is not a DNA issue, it is learned.
If you are a racist or bigot, be prepared for a rough time in alaska. yes, we have our issues, but for the most part we have no time for that nonsense.

We don't have that problem in my area. We have a nice mix. A little bit of everything and everyone. And we all seem to get along just fine. Sure some of them are weird. But then I'm sure they think the same about me...so it's all good!

Ha, no I am most definitely not a racist or bigot. I mean, I think we all have our moments, but for the most part I'm a very tolerant person, to each their own you know? I guess it's something you can't get away from no matter where you are

Oh, I see some racism here. I don't mean against Blacks or Hispanics, but against the Indians. There is a mix, of course, of open-minded and closed-minded people. Obviously there is some pretty bad racism in the criminal justice system. Does that mean that the people who work in the field are racist? I don't think so, for the most part. It has become a systemic problem somehow.

Now that I think about it, I wouldn't even say that it is 'prevalent.' But I do see it.

Ketchikan is fairly diverse. The worst rasism that I've seen has be hateful words behind someones back.

There's a lot of problems with unequal treatment for natives, but it's not out and out racism.

There is racism here. It is against Alaskan Natives mostly. But the people that trend that way are just plain racist agains almost anyone not the same color as they are.

It runs both ways actually. I grew up as one of the only whites in a village so I saw the other side as well. But in the urban areas racism can be pretty bad.

Why should there be racism with respect to any inferior minority group?
