Lots of towns or villages with less than 500 but no jobs. Good luck.

Some do...some don't. Some don't tolerate each other.

Nahhh, that ain't so. Towns with 60% anything clearly tolerate others fairly well.
It's a few places that have less than 10% Native, and some of the places that have less than 10% non-Native, that don't tolerate others well.
Essentially, in either case (60% or 10%), they want to maintain the current mix, or lack thereof.

Delta Junction. It's about a hundred miles from Fairbanks, and close enough to Anchorage that you can drive there for vacations. I was born and raised there, and when I left there were about 2000 people. Due to Fort Greely Military base being close by, I'm assuming there's closer to 3000 now. It's a great little town, with a grocery store, laundromat, bank, public library, and very quaint restaurants such as the Buffalo Drive Thru. I would especially recommend it if you have kids, and love more "rustic" living. There is a central "town" so even though it's basically the middle of nowhere, you can get to civilization if you drive a few miles. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and down to earth, with that "living off the land" quality about them. The school was K-12 when I was a kid, but I think they are working on separating it somewhat. There were great teachers and all the classrooms were up to date and maintained, as with the rest of the town. It's not one of those junky small towns with old abandoned buildings and such... it's a wonderful place to live and I'd highly recommend it.

Does any one have a take on Trapper Creek? I've spotted some property that way, I understand that at least part of it is on the road system and electricity, phone, satellite tv, et al, are available? Prolly gets a bit nippy this time of year.

True.
it's a hard fact for some people to stomach, but it's true.
Especially if money and jobs are involved.
