Default Should I get a telephone--wtf

I haven't used anything but a satellite phone for awhile and I hate the way they echo. If I get a cell phone it will just end up living in the glove box of my truck with the battery worn down. Forget getting a land line. But people act like they feel sorry for me when I tell them I don't have a telephone, like they think I'm antisocial or some such bs. I wouldn't answer it anyway most of the time and I'm way beyond drunk dialing my ex so I hardly see the point. WTH???? It must be a -48 cultural thing.

If you don't need a phone, then why do you want one Met?

Get a carrier pigeon. They don't cost much to feed. I hate using my cell phone but it's a necessary evil. I also have Vonage at home. I don't answer it often and screen voicemail when I feel like it.

I haven't had a land-line in some time, though with the offspring in school, we are considering it once we move. I did notice that Verizon was exceedingly dodgy in Wasilla and the Willow area. Does AT&T have good coverage 'in the valley'?

I might need one if I get a flat tire or something.

For me it's just not a communication tool. People can e-mail me if they've got something to say. When I'm home, the telephone seems like a real intrusive thing. But I'm thinking about getting one as a safety feature.

You could always get OnStar installed in your vehicle.

Question new tech.?

has anyone tried magicjack yet? I ordered one but haven't gotten it yet. magicjack.com has the information on it. It's supposed to work great through your computer and you can call within the states and Canada for free.

Yeah but don't it cost 39 bucks or something? I can call Sweden and talk 7 hours for 10 bucks on Skype. And within the US is free.
