Default goddess of the north

Been there, done that. Quite a few times actually. Mostly sleeping on the solarium, once in a berth with only bunk beds. As far as entertainment, there were sometimes guitar playing hippy types, which were annoying when we were curled up in sleeping bag trying to get some shuteye. There was a lot of pot smoking going on too, which we just ignored and pretended that we didn't see. What was interesting was being so tired we'd fall asleep beside someone on a lawn chair and then pull into different ports and wake up later to a different stranger beside us. So tired due to the earlier long drive from North Central WA up to Prince Rupert to catch the ferry.

Some of the most fun I ever had was ferrying between Wrangell and Petersburg. Did you know the evil weed marijuana kills sea sickness? Although you will need extra munchies.

This must be why the well-traveled locals advise that you bring lots of snacks.

I guess all this talk is in good fun, but I'm not sure the on-board State Police would agree with you today....

Well I have not been on a ferry since 1979/80. Things may be different now.

I hear they have motors these days. Was your ferry powered by sails?

No! I was 18, fresh out of highschool, and working for the forestry service in Wrangell, Petersburg and on Kuiu Island. I think every kid should spend a year in the woods of SE AK, just before joining the Army!
