There goes "Deadliest Catch" in 2022. I'm not a reality show person, but that show has had me hooked since it started. Last season started with the concern there would not even be a season, but they of course were able to fish. Will be interesting to see how the show pivots from starting their season fishing for King.

Ah.

It sounds like hell on earth. Back in the 70s there were a bunch of kids from around here went up for the season to make some good money.

Guess it was pretty grueling.

But do I ever love to sit down to some King crab. It's a feast for us.

I suppose some company will just have to start making it in a lab.

This reminds me of when the first people came to New England there was so much lobster that they used it to feed prisoners. And the prisoners complained about the bad treatment.

Times change.

Kinda knew something was up since the crab boats are still docked or on blocks, in Eastlake Union, Seattle.

Dungeness, last 2 weeks, jumped from $9 (relatively cheap, but previously frozen) to $13/#, FredMeyer.

Was at Costco this morning. I didn't see any bulk sales and they said they weren't going to have their seafood roadshow this year, at least at one of the Seattle Locations. They were selling 1 or 2 pound prepackages.

"Wild Cooked Red King Crab" $38.99/lb

Pretty sure that's a negative. I've heard JNU Costco is the smallest in U.S.

I wish. Spend most of my time in Anchorage now.

They already do. It's called surimi, usually made from pollock. Although it is a poor substitute for the real thing.

Yeah, we eat surimi. In land-locked MN sometimes it's the best we can get.

But like you say that's real food.

I'm talking lab-created food. Get ready.

I don't mind the idea of lab created food anymore, it used to bug me quite a bit. I mean, as long as it isn't Soylent Green
