make some decisions
You start by making some decisions. Actually, a lot of decisions.
How remote do you want to be? On the water, in the woods, or both? On the road system?(Haines and Skagway only) On the ferry system? (lots of options both location and size-wise, from Pelican to Sitka). Inside passage or on the outer coast? Fly in or boat access or drive from a town? Do you want utilities? If so, which? Summer only, or year-round? Already built, or build it yourself. If the latter, ready made log-cabin kit, or rough it out yourself from scratch? And last but not least, how much do you want to spend?
There are "cabins" in every possible variant of the above scenarios, from right in town in Juneau to little one-room places only reachable by a talented Supercub pilot on light floats. Just buying land based on a good price is a bit hasty, unless you're ready to sit on it for years or decades as a land speculator. You're really better off defining what you want in a cabin and going from there. It's a bit overwhelming as a whole, but piece out what you need, what you want, and what you can live with and you'll start narrowing the choices down to a more reasonable level.
