Default VERY small

Gustavus is the community located closest to Glacier Bay, perhaps one of the most scenic areas of the state. The fishing is reported to be great. Gustavus is also VERY small, as in less than five hundred residents. The whole phone book fits onto one page. It is remote, even by Alaska standards. There is no access by road, only by air or by sea. Things are quite expensive there, as goods and materials cannot be trucked, only barged or flown air-cargo. Housing is limited and relatively expensive, when it is available at all.

You seriously need to visit there in person before you commit to a move there. There is no substitute for putting your feet on the dirt there before you make a decision of that magnitude.
