hell, why stop at olive garden?
let's open another 5,000 fast food joints, so we can all have the same health issues the lower 48 has.
that should be good for at least another 10,000 health issues and deaths of alaskan natives..........

Especially when there's a great Italian joint just a little bit south off of the N Peters Creek exit called the Bella Vista. A little pricey but that's to be expected.

I simply do not get why people go to chain restaurants. That was one of my favorite things about Alaska, the individuality.

Mostly because they're cheap.

Are they? Is it the restaurants themselves that are cheap, or the clientele?

There seem to be plenty of locally owned places that aren't terribly expensive.

Terribly is such a broad word though. You or I could go out for dinner at some trendy spendy place in Anchorage & spend $200. I wouldn't want to do that every day of the week though. Now spending say $50 for dinner is more reasonable for 2 people, but again doing it every night is going to be spendy.
If we drop the amount to $23 for 2 say at Ihop, then eating out more frequently can happen. Personally I dislike chains but I realize that most people eat at them because the prices are cheap & perhaps they are as well.

Met have you ever thought about marketing an Alaskan Mojito with a piece of oosik as a stirrer instead of a piece of sugar cane?

LOL @granny.

Okay, Barkley, I can see this (I SUPPOSE)---say you're on the road and need breakfast in a strange place where you don't know where the good places are. So you pull in at IHOP. It can be survived.
