Target: Hiring updates - Wasilla/Anchorage
Hey Alaskans!
I'm a floor manager for the new Wasilla Target store opening in October, so I thought I'd share a little information if anyone is looking for a full or part-time job in retail.
The mass hire for both stores should be starting in mid-July, as I'll be starting work up there by July 8th to help with that. We'll have a site-trailer set up while the store is being finished by the end of June.
As for ways to get in touch for applications... I'm going to suggest Target.com first... I don't know if that will help you but it might. Otherwise, once the time period comes about stop by the store area, there might be a kiosk set up by then.
I'll try to update as it gets closer but I'll be in the process of driving up that way from Arkansas so I don't know how often I'll be on here.
If you have any questions however about the new stores or the interview process or just working for Target in general feel free to ask!

Actually, I don't believe any Targets sell firearms... I could be wrong, but I know they're a tobacco free company so they could be gun and ammo free too. Now anything goes for Alaska though, as that is new territory for this company and I'm sure many people would be interested in buying items like that there. I guess we'll see, but I'm thinking probably not.

That's probably not a smart decision. The politically correct garbage that passes for truth down there probably won't hold water up here. When in Rome....

Better a target than walmart.
Where I live there is a walmart within 5 miles in every direction (no exaggeration).
Walmart is the slum of the super centers, with Walmart comes crime.
Target is only a step above Walmart though

How do you figure Target is any better than WalMart? They both sell the exact same junk that made in China. They only difference is Target charges you more for it. Plus all there employees were red shirts which really freaks me out.

Now I hate to support Target, even though I work there (heh) I have to say that while Target isn't as competitive with prices like Wal-mart, Target does seem to carry a little more class. The employees starting from their first day in that evil red shirt are reminded over and over again that the guest comes first. We use the saying, "Can I help you find something?" and seek guests out. Not only that but we use recognition for our team members like a bribe so they'll say it even more! lol The best I've gotten from Wal-mart was a grunt and a point in a slightly wrong direction. lol
I guess it just depends on your needs and your means... *ahem* and your taste... lol

I agree, I'll be looking forward to see if Target changes their policy on this once the stores are open and they see the business they're potentially losing.
Although, I think they strive for a family-oriented atmosphere which according to them is free of firearms and smokes. It'll be interesting.

Well if they want good business, they will have to remember this is Alaska..which means it is "different" then the lower 48. IMO any politically correct bull they bring with them from the lower 48 will not fly in Wasilla.
