My family is also moving to Ketchikan this summer. My husband is starting a job with the City of Ketchikan, so we are going to be permanent residents. We will be living at a remote site, but he works 8 days on and 6 days off. We would like to park our trailer somewhere so we can spend time in Ketchikan during the time off. Does anyone know of a place to park a trailer with hook-ups besides Clover Pass? We are willing to pay for utilities and/or space rental. Thank you!

I think that's gonna be about your only place to park that type of trailer. There is Valenar View trailer park but I think that's mainly for mobile homes. There a little trailer park on the north side of A&P Market but again I thinks that mobile homes only.
Ketchikan is sorely lacking in the types of places your looking for. You could always dry park in the WalMart or Safeway parking lot. But after 4 or 5 days they might run you out. |

Thank you! We are flying up this weekend for a few days to check things out. Maybe someone has some property or something we can rent/use. I appreciate your response. Blessings!

Great idea. I just took your advice. I read the SitNews often, and I am not sure why I didn't think of it myself. Thanks again!

Hi All,
My son who is 20 has taken a summer job with Alaska Adventures. He will be located out of Ketchikan. He was told they would provide housing for 180.00 per month. This sounds crazy to me.... Does anyone know of this organization or know anyone who works for this company? Also, does anyone know where he would be staying? He is suppose to leave this coming Tuesday. Thanks! |

Housing could be that cheap if it was on a live-aboard boat or cheap apartment complex; it's likely in a trailer with other workers or a boat of some kind. Any other particulars that they said?
I doubt it's very nice housing---but if he's ready for an adventure, he'll probably have one there! Don't worry too much Mom...most likely he'll come back with all his limbs! ![]() Seriously, a lot of college kids come up here and "cut their teeth" on what it's really like to live a little "rougher." It is a very different standard...but then again, some of them benefit by that experience. I've heard of the outfit here and there---I believe they're decent. |

Oh...and you might tell him to lay in an extra supply of prophylactics and to ABSTAIN whenever possible; the rate of STD's in Ketchikan is higher than almost anywhere in Alaska (and that's saying something). It's a transitory town with lots of transitory types--and lots of venereal disease/drugs, unfortunately.
I'm just tryin to warn you, not scare you--it'lll probably be the adventure of a lifetime for him! ![]() |
