No vacation plans. Just work. I am glad I dont see how it costs to fuel up the ferry. I just see the total gallons, which have been over 700 total gallons. But it is 30 cents cheaper per gallon to fuel up in Skagway, and dead head the boat over at night.

Default try Canada

You might also look into renting an RV through a Canadian outfit. I know that the exchange rate isn't going our way these days, but I see a LOT of europeans and other tourists with Canadian RV rentals touring through here, including late-model pickup trucks with slide-in campers which might be a bit less as well as more fuel-efficient. They do have a lot less room inside, but how much do you really need for a month?

Our vacation will be the drive/ferry during our move. We had already figured in gas prices at $5. Just hope it doesn't really get that high.

Not a bad idea..thanks, will look into it. I am having a hard time making up my mind. I really want to see my family but the cost of gas with all this traveling is going to be alot, plus area in midwest we are stopping at now has temps in the 90's with humidity and I hate heat/humidity.

I know in checking airfares yesterday, it was something like $2000 per person for coach and now throw in a rental car.

I got my tickets 1140.00 for two roundtrips from Minneapolis to Anchorage. And I am renting a conversion van that has a bed and table in the back for 110.00 a day and we got a camping package with it that has campstove, pots and pans, cooler and some other stuff. We are outdoors people and love camping anyways so this works out great for us.

Warpt. I was actually considering Kalispell (Glacier National Park) instead of Alaska. Horizon flies there and I can get a deal through a coworker, so MT might be doable. Let me know what dates you're thinking about.

I'm good with that. Just don't shove me in the closet (and don't read into that either!)

I think airfares are supposed to jump threefold. That's what I heard. It's only going to get worse.
