I was reading that stocks plummeted today 400 points and oil neared $140 barrel. I could just scream!! Gas in Anchorage today was 4.09, in the Valley it's 4.17, but just wait, it'll be going up "again."
Anyone have any vacation plans? We were going to drive down to the lower 48 but may have to rethink this whole thing. |

Fortunately for me our Alaska trip is paid for. The only thing I have to wonder about is gas for the rental SUV. This very well may be my last trip & I'm going to make the most of it.

You're moving up here right? I do know we checked into renting an RV for a month and it was almost $6,000 and naturally did not include gas so we scrapped that plan real quick lol. What part of Alaska are you moving into?

I was going to vaction in AK for two weeks this summer, but I've pretty much scrapped that plan. Airfares will be going up too so I guess I'll need to get creative and vacation closer to home.

I'm still planning on a drive down to Montana later this summer/fall to visit my brother and his family. Hopefully the price will go down by then. Might have to meet you somewhere down there, Cobolt.

No, not yet.
I think of this vacation as some time to see the beauty of the state, meet up with friends & have a talk with employers in my field. I'm thinking about Palmer, Chugiak, Eagle River & Willow. My wife seems to like Anchorage. |

The best thing about these places is that it's only a short drive to Alaska from there.![]() |

Yes, I am rethinking my trip also though I may still do my annual trip but maybe pulling a small sleeper trailer or no trailer at all. I'll just curl up in the back of my mini SUV. I am dreaming, of course. At my age, I need that commode near me. It is a tough decision. Actually, "ALASKA" if you were thinking of renting an RV, you can probably rent one of those small ones that gets about 20 mpg. With me, I am stuck. It certainly does not make sense to rent one and have my own just sitting in storage. Like everyone else, there is a breaking point.
