Default Coasties moving from Texas to...Seward?!?

hello all,
well my husband just received orders from the Coast Guard to report to Seward by September 30th. I've never lived outside of south Texas so i'm going a little crazy over here.....
I discovered ya'lls little forum yesterday and after perusing the MANY threads I have discovered that moving north (wwaaaayy north ) might not be so bad. On the other hand we need to find a place to live, me a job, and pack everything up in less than 3 months. AAH! oh and did i mention that i'm 7 months pregnant (due in August)?!?!
I've already read a lot of advice from this forum regarding vehicles and the weather differing from region to region (p.s. thanks) but now i'm wondering if there are any other military fams that might beable to lend some advice on how his job conditions might be. Such as how long the cutters go out for and if we really should live IN Seward or if any surrounding towns are okay.
Also, I work in the medical field doing echocardiography, A.K.A. Cardiac Ultrasound.....know of any good clinics or hospitals I should apply at???

help a girl out, p-p-pleeease

Moose Pass is the closest town to Seward, about 30 miles north. With regard to possible job opportunities in Seward, there is the Providence Seward Medical and Care Center and a few clinics such as the North Star Health Clinic, the Seward Family Care Clinic, and the Glacier Family Medicine Clinic.

I wish you the best of luck.

WELCOME, SAKARI22......

I hope you don't get too freaked out about a move like this....it should be quite an adventure, and Seward is a good town.

It will be rainier than you are used to, but all in all the weather is good. Warm in winter as it goes in AK, this is a port that is open all winter, and though they get lots of snow, it is usually quite mild.

It IS on the highway system, which means you can take trips into Anchorage to COSTCO or SAM's club to get good prices.

Is this your first child? Are you going to move before the baby is born, or after? My daughter's husband just changed jobs, she was 7 months, and knowing the move would be hard either way, they chose to move before....they hurried everything up, and got settled in, she is now do at the end of this month, and all is well. Babies room is even set up!

Sakari I'm surprised that there is nothing about the Mustang or Seward on any of the USCG forums.
