I'm pretty sure it'll hit over five bucks a gallon by Labor Day where I'm at.

Fred's--there's a few in the valley but I'm back up in the mountains and not even the lure of Summer Ale is going to get me to drive down there with all the morons running around.

Xa'at, where in the hell are you anyway?

And I just saw on the news the Saudi's are not rushing in to up their production. So don't count on that doing anything. This country needs a good slap in the face. And I think we're going to get it.

they already have increased production by 300,000 barrels a day...and by July it will be up to 700,000 barrels. Saudis increase oil production - Jun. 22, 2008

Even 700k barrels isn't going to make any difference when you think about the US's rate of consumption.

$5.49 a gal for unleaded here in juneau, and going up with the next barge load.

I'm more concerned about this winter, fuel oil is going to be horrendous...

The Saudi's increase in production will do NOTHING to decrease the gas prices, neither short or long term. China will drink up every drop of that oil going on the market and it will be the same game. The Saudis would have to increase production by millions of barrels. This is just another smoke and mirrors game. Please stop believing the propaganda machine.

Here in Madison, the price has held at around $4.05 since mid May. This past week we have slid back to around $3.95.

300 thou is just a drop in a bucket. Like cobolt said...I don't think it's going to reduce our prices at the pump. Matter of fact it'll probably increase the price. Since we would be buying it from another country and not producing it ourselves.

None of us like it but there is a silver lining with this high fuel price. 1st, it makes drivers think twice before using their vehicle to make successive trips to grocery stores for a $1 item or for a cup of coffee or visit a neighbor 2 blocks away. Then, you will notice less gas guzzlers on the road. Then, for you guys and dolls in the cold country, it means more wood heating and thicker layer of clothing. I personally am seriously considering postponing my trip North and thinking of heading South into Mexico to take advantage of their $2.50/gal diesel. And would you believe, all the low sulfer diesel comes from the U.S.
Actually, in my area, the freeways now seem less crowded. There are more bikes, both the pedal type and motorized. But the key, in mho, is the politicians are taking notice. I would not bet my life on it but, even Obama may swing over to suggest drilling in the so far, off limit areas, if prices continue up. MaCain is already touting that position.
Our generation may end up in the streets but our grandkids may benefit from our suffering. At least, I sure as h--l hope so. I am a step closer to poverty due to the results of high fuel prices. Oops! Maybe I better get off my soapbox before I see croc tears flowing.

It'll do this country good to get out of the vehicles and start walking a little more!

I filled up yesterday at $3.87 a gallon, and as for walking more, work is a 38 mile drive, one way. Granted I do less driving, covering at least three errands for each trip out, and only go to the dump once every two weeks.
