Dark and Stout
The rootbeer thread got me thinking. Where can I go to get the best
beer in Alaska?
Qualifactions: Brewed in Alaska, comes out a tap <not a bottle>,and is dark and stout.( you know, the kind that needs to settle for a minute after its poured)

Alaskan Oatmeal Stout, made in Juneau. Usually can get it on tap, that or the Smoked Porter.

With all this talk about beer and rootbeer, I may have to stop and pick up a 6 pack of Alaskan Stout on the way home.

I thought "oatmeal" stouts were just another gimmick, Akck, but they're now my favorite kind of brew when I'm not too cheap to buy them. The Australians make an excellent one. I'll have to try the Alaskan if I can find it down here.

Midnight Sun Brewery in Anchorage makes a wide variety of beers. I know the owner, so I'm biased.

Try Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout...it's an English import, so a bit expensive

stouts and bitters
The brewery here in Haines regularly features a varying selection of stouts and bitters. Darker and more hoppy than I care for, but definately "stout".
