thats hilarious! so what kind of a pursuit are we talkin about here...i mean, were the troopers simply walking beside him threating to pull the keys out of the ignition?!? or did they have to whip out the road spikes?

I was with a buddy of mine back in the 80s waiting to load our automobile on the ferry. We were in line. My buddy had been at the bar earlier in the day and had his share of drinks. I WAS THE DESIGNATED driver because we both knew he was drunk. As they loaded the cars I would start his vehicle drive it forward a few spaces and turn it off. It would be about 5-10 minutes between intervals as we moved forward. At one point, we stopped, I turned the car off and got out to stretch for a bit and take a short walk. My buddy slid over to the drivers seat and turned the keys to the on position, but never started the car, simply to turn on the radio. About 2 minutes latter a cop walked up. Asked him to step out of the vehicle and proceeded the give him the field sobriety test. Of course he failed and was hauled off for DUI despite both of our protest and lots of explanation as to what occurred. The officer kept stating over and over "technically" this and that. He was applying the law technically, but not in the practical manor it was designed for. He had been watching us from across the parking area and waited for my buddy to simply be in the vehicle with the keys. It was a total joke.

Long story short, my buddy got an attorney, I testified and the judge threw the case out. Cost him about $1200 bucks.

And for the record, I'm 110% against drunk driving! My family was almost killed by one. We were 110% trying to be responsible and this cop knew it, but was a total A-hole anyhow.

Smile Dayum !

Dear John and Warpt,

posts like this ought to be punished by flogging with wet fish in public.

I almost fell off my chair laffing and my belly still hurts after reading about that HOT 5 mph pursuit. Lights flashing, sirens howling, officers gun-in-hand, arresting the most dangerous criminal of the year.

Well, at least they did SOMETHING for your tax dollar.

Thanx for the laff.

Takeo.

I seen a guy here get pulled over and arrested for riding his bike drunk. How he kept it on two wheels amazes me. He could barely walk!
