Default Good Tech Jobs?

Hey guys, I'm from Illinois and looking to move up there in a year... Just looking for some good companies in the IT field around Anchorage? Down here there's AT&T and Savvis but neither have a branch up there. Tried looking into UAA but couldn't find a director of IT's email. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't really drive around downtown and check it out.

What type of IT tech are you looking for? Systems administration/network type work or software development/programming type work?

Your best bet for either is to check Alaska Jobs - Jobs in Alaska - AK Jobs, Alaska Job Center Network and sites like that. Anchorage Daily News also lists their classifieds online. The government, hospitals and universities are your best bet for full-time employment in either field. You can also check with MTA or GCI if your focus and experience is telecommunication network admin. Or check with the local ISPs if your focus and experience is more in computer network admin or web dev. There are also several contract companies in Anchorage that staff SW development jobs all over the state, particularly with the oil companies, and GIS experience is really helpful to have for those; but there doesn't seem to be a lot of full-time SW or Web Dev jobs up there (yet).

Check out the state and federal job openings. There are usually several IT positions out to hire. Great benefits too.
