I met my favorite author, Gary Paulsen, when he came to our village during Iditarod in 2007. He has written numerous books- my fav is Winterdance. When I met him, he had a cabin in Willow with some sleddogs he was running. Don't know if he lived there fulltime or if he still lives there at all. Another author, Donna Blasor-Bernhardt, lives in Tok. She wrote Waltz With Me Alaska. Great read- she, her husband, and their kids lived in a M*A*S*H style army tent through the winter while building a cabin.

I didn't see the name come up in any of the following replies, but I think the author you're referringto might be Dana Stabenow.
