Default Bridge-to-Nowhere Hack gets tax AWARD

Right Watch: Don Young is a hero? | The Next Right
Quote:
REP. YOUNG NAMED HERO OF THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER
Recognized for Hard Work in Congress Alaskan Congressman

Don Young attended a reception last night where he received an award from each of the following groups: Americans for Tax Reform, American Shareholders Association, Alliance for Worker Freedom, and the 60 Plus Association.

Thought I'd throw this up here since it wasn't getting much play in the politics forum. What do Alaskans think about this little piggy?

I figured as much but I wanted to see what you guys actually had to say. He can't be defended, but I wanted to hear what Alaskans had to say anyway.

Shouldn't you be worried about politicians in your neck of the woods? You aren't even in state to start a thread like this.

As I live on an island, I am both provincial and insular, and tend to agree with the above.

That said: what were they thinking? Awards like that to Don Young? Surely someone mistook a sarcastic stage play for reality? Well, I guess not.

This stinks. Young stinks. And so do Stevens and Murkowski, and I had been a Republican (please note the past tense) ever so long. And I think the Democrats stink, too.

They're all crooks, and we need to dump them, and those awards are so stupidly sick that it's pathetic. And I am sick of voting for the "lesser of two evils". No more. Some third party, even without a chance, but no more votes for such tools, of either major party.

And almost all our reps are tools. Owned and operated by major industry and international bankers. Don't kid yourselves folks;it's not OUR government any more.

So sez Kenny. rrrrr

I've been practicing my "cranky". Doin' OK, huh?

My sentiments exactly... we live in the United States of Capitalism and our governments only care about taxing us for profit, spending our tax dollars to securing personal gain and keeping us "obedient". The Democrats or the Republicans, the Right-Wing or Left-Wing, they're almost all misguided and acting in their own interest. I'll admit there may be a small percentage that are not yet corrupted and actually do want to do the "right thing"; but they are few and far between and don't have the power or influence to cut through the BS.

All right! I was hoping to channel the independent spirit of Alaska in this post. I was beginning to worry that people actually voted for Young. It seems he just magically makes his way back into office...

The only Alaskans responding to your post, besides myself, were Warptman and Rance. Warptman correctly pointed out that your opinion on the matter is completely irrelevant, as are the opinions of anyone else who is not an Alaskan resident and voter. I am also in complete agreement with Rance, build the bridge.

You lower-48ers have absolutely no clue what you are referring to, and therefore your opinion has no value in Alaska.

When federal funds are involved anyone can have a say in the matter. A senator or congressman from any state can work against it being allowed. If it was purely state funding for the project, that would be different.
